I think the blackmailing is happening mostly from the Croat side: they try to put Slovenia in a position where it can be blackmailed forever.

This conflict is just one of many that could have been prevented if Yugoslavia had been disintegrated by negotiations. Thank mr. Badinter for the mess.

Ask for your quirky comments about Dalmatia "not really ever belonged" to Croatia--look up the name Knez Branimir, Kralj Zvonimir, and read up on Croatian history.

Well, like everyone else they did pray

"A sagittis Hungarorum libera nos, Domine"
(according other sources: "Ab Ungerorum nos defendas jaculis").

Apparently, unlike Italians or Spanish - they did not pray hard enough and they stuck till 1918 when our ways did part.... just to re-join the gang hopefully (way) before 2018.

That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. You expect a sovereign nation to give up its territory because "it has a lot"? Then why don't the Slovenes go to Italy and ask Berlesconi for some sea? They have a LOT more. And Luxembourg is quite small--they should demand some land from France, it already has a lot of forest land anyways.

Why should Croatia have to forfeit a piece of it's territory to the already dwindling Slovenes. Do you see Russia give up a bit of it's east coast to the Japanese or the Caucauses to the Checyns-NO you don't. Many lives were lost defending the homeland, do you really think we are just going to give it up..Absolutely NOT.

The current "reality on the ground": over 10 thousand Hungarians were crossing into Croatia on a single day of July 4. Both Croatia and Slovenia is now probably on the paper only and Jadran is firmly in our hands. Romania and Bulgaria is the next. Crna Gora is the last stand but not for long.

While Magyar Gárda was fighting the police in Budapest, REAL Hungarians went much further, claimed the lost territories and revived the old glory... till end of Summer.

Well I think Croatia is the greedy one and has more coastline than it needs or deserves. I do think Slovenia should have some more - and Bosnia, perhaps, too.
One should remember that Dalmatia wasn't considered Croatia until after Croatia joined and became part of Yugoslavia.
Serb soldiers actually fought off Italy for it after WWI.

Croatia has coastline aplenty and could spare a few miles of it to Slovenia.

How hillarious that Croatia and Slovenia are fighting over a tiny piece of water - totally meaningless to both sides - but both expect Serbia to surrender 15% of it's territory and the most historically significant at that.

I hope the tear each other apart...

The anti-Serb coalition's best days are long gone.

Hang in there Serbia...

Lenard, the one who has more support is going to set the rules no matter if just or not. Does any of this sound familiar to you?

Well, Serbs have been the underdog and the powers that be are on Croatian side so now you are only getting a taste of what you have been dishing out.

Learn to live with it. Serbia has to.

Gojko you don't know what yow are talking about. Croatia has for years tried to settle the issue threw component international courts. Slovenia has always rejected the idea because it dos not have the evidence to put its case forward. Or a international law of precedent to win its case. Now it uses its one EU card to try to get what it wants but the Croatians aren't playing the Slovenian made up rule or game. That Croatia has to lose any way you deal it ,you have to be a retard to play by the Slovenian game and rules.

“You won’t get a centimeter of Croatian territory.”

Good old fashion Balkan Rhetoric.
This game never gets old!

Ivo's leaving remarks is only putting more of a divide between the 2 countries! Leave your post already and move on with your life. The Croatian and Slovenian citizens need to move forward. In the end the average Joe will suffer again. Croatians are better off without this guy.

Alban, There is always 2 sides to a story. I don't expect you to understand that however as Croats and Albaninas only look at their views.

Dialogue is a terrible idea? Lets just plug our ears or have a shouting match? Thats the best thing to do?
