My head is spinning with the implications. I can't imagine what the speculation in Belgrade might be.

Could it be

A. the Radicals were right- Nikolic is willing to betray Serbia for EU Carrots and power.

B. Nikolic is showing Serbia and the EU that there is a way forward that does not involve the constant concessions and incompetence of the DS coalition or the conflict of the 90s

C. Nikolic is doing this as a short term ploy to drive a nail in the coffin of Radical SNS co-operation.

D. Nikolic is unsatisfied with current EU policy but he is willing to do business with the EU on completely new terms and needs to establish a working relationship with them

E. Nikolic does not think he can win without the EU being neutral about who is ruling Serbia, and is doing this to counter their objections and potential interference.

F. Nikolic is courting elements of the government to come over to his party

G. Nikolic is developing the political reputation of a maverick and this will help him in a campaign

G. Something else entirely?

What do you all think?
