"Maybe they never intended Kosovo to be a country. All they wanted to achieve is what they have achieved already. Camp Bondsteel is there and that's all Americans want. Paying for it will be up to Europe."
(Peggy, 17 February 2009

Excellent point Peggy- more people should understand this! THIS is by far the biggest reason (but not the only reason) for Kosovo's UDI backing by the US- if Bondsteel were UNDISPUTEDLY on "Serbian soil", then it would be much more difficult for the US to maintain it's desired "global security presence" at Bondsteel.

After reading some conclusions from "Transparency International", it was interesting to note that KOSOVO is the 4th most corrupt region in the world, just behind Cameroon, Cambodia, and ALBANIA. I wonder what's the "common denominator"???

The reason the "US influence" has weakend is because we have paid our debt to the Saudis... Our interests now have diminished. Thats why we supported the "islamic movement" in Croatia and turned our backs on a 50 year allie(Serbs). It was all politcal and monetary. We were deeply in debt to the Saudis so we popped up post next the an oil field in Croatia and supported the muslims on behalf of Saudi Arabia. Kosovo was the same issue. Look where Bondsteel is located... Main base of a oil pipeline from Bulgaria to Albania. Look at Kosovo, a country with 80% unemployed yet there are dozens of new mosques being built..hmmm The US still paying its debts to the Saudis.. You dont think the Kosovo politicians are funding the mosques do you? Heck they cant even build propper schooling for their future generations and regulate electricty and water. No they are lining their own corrupt pockets with both aid and drug money and building their own security on the coasts of Albania... Like Afghan, we will be back here in 10 years righting a wrong once again committed by us. (USA)We have clearly created an Islamic country (state) to pay off a deep rooted debt owed to the Saudis...

whooa. wow.

as if anybody needs Mr.Rohan to figure out that the US´s influence is decreasing!

thanks for the info, Al.

but let´s be serious again. if , as that article states it, Kosovo will be an "european province" ruled by Brussels, ...why not?

isn´t that even better than giving self-rule to a bunch of criminals who are holding their very own k-albanian fellow-citizens ( who are citizens of Serbia of course ) as hostages?

I mean, it is serbian territory anyway, but if those seperatists believe to have an own state, ( even if only a virtual one ) but legally it is serbian state-territory, then it´s something I am fine with.

that´s why I say: let them just celebrate "independence", others believe in the Yeti and again others believe Elvis and Adold together with J.F.K live on a secret lunar station on the backside of the moon and enjoy themselves playing poker...

let them believe whatever they want!

reality is something different though...

it becomes clearer and clearer that sitting back and just letting some time pass is quite a smart approach to the K-issue.

time is on Serbia´s side, anyway.

no force needed, it will happen the peaceful way.

Albanians, please read again this article on foreign media and then revise your posts. You need more objective look of stalled dependence - from Paris, Wiena and German media - all your supporters. They are not happy what they see, that your dream-illusion is not going anywhere. So, please be realistic and get to negotiating table - sooner - better. Just need to wake up first and face reality.

I wonder, how "gringo" and "massa" translates to Albanian ? something, the people of "Free Kosova" should find extremely useful :-)

Best case scenario is that in 10 years time Albanians will still not be governing themselves.
This is the best case scenario. I wonder what the worst is.

What was US thinking back then? Did they really think that they could armtwist Russia and China to follow their lead? Without them on board Kosovo was never going to be a country.

Maybe they never intended Kosovo to be a country. All they wanted to achieve is what they have achieved already. Camp Bondsteel is there and that's all Americans want. Paying for it will be up to Europe.

UNMIK and EULEX officials had better become fluent in Albanian and Serbian soon
(Mike, 17 February 2009 18:07)

You wish. Some are really "expats" in worst sense and look down at both ethnics.

I had devastating experience with some KFOR members. I have doubt, some of whom I met should be there at all.

UNMIK and EULEX officials had better become fluent in Albanian and Serbian soon, because they're going to be in Kosovo for a long, long time.
