Serbia is consuming a quarter more than it produces. So it is living far above its means. Until now this extravaganza was financed by foreign investment and foreign credit, but both are declining fast.

We know that a person who lives above his means sooner or later goes broke. For countries it is not different. Going broke for countries means having to devaluate the currency abruptly, fire many officials and stop most government investment programs. If Serbia goes on how it is doing now such a crash will be the inevitable result.

So the minister should not tell that the people don't have to worry and that their level of prosperity will be maintained. Instead he should tell them that tough times are ahead and that the sooner Serbia adapts itself the better the endresult.

This Milosavljevic is both hapless and useless. He has a habit of saying something one day and the very next day news comes out contradicting directly what he says.

This time round it is the fact that he says that prices are going down but all economists are saying that prices have gone up due to the falling value of the dinar.

I think he should be relieved of his job - he could easily find employment in the private sector, for Delta of course.
