Army: Serbian initiative matters

This is logical initiative and likely outcome. Serbia will soon join NATO and will probably take a role in Kosovo. As USA troupes scale down, Serbian troupes (not now but in due course) will replace them in Kosovo. When NATO protection is required for Kosovo, Serbian troupes representing NATO will be there to help.

I look forward to see the future.

I am Serb as well (sumadinac) and I strongly disagree with you. I have to say that I have very good personal experience with some of my friends who happen to be Albanians.

However, even if I did not have good experience with Albanians, it should not matter as Serbian Constitution guarantee equal rights to all Serbian Citizens, regardless of their ethnicity or political beliefs.

Russia would certainly support Serbia joining NATO. In fact, Russia would also like to be part of NATO or at least to have a special relationship with them. Strategically, USA and Russia share common interests and this will be more and more obvious in the future.

There are signs that tide is changing (EULEX under UN; problems with Germans etc.). If I am Kosovo Albanian leadership I would hurry up to strike a deal with Serbian leadership while Albanian position is still relatively strong. However, it is unlikely that the current leadership will see that and they will miss the opportunity. Crucial thing is that Serbia is not any more viewed as a problem, but as a solution. It is very likely that you would live to see Serbia in NATO and Serbian soldiers as your protectors. As it is the most absurd outcome, it is the most likely one.

When this happens, I would appreciate if you post a comment on B92 saying "Nemanja you were right". Vice verse, if it happens that Kosovo, as a separate country, joins NATO before Serbia does, I will post a comment on B92 "Olf I was wrong".

Just a reminder that Kosova poeple are living without Serbia for nearly 10 years now. Whoever thinks that Serbia can return to Kosovo, after taking this fact into consideration, needs to think again before saying it again.

oh now i see why Pristina is so nervous, NATO is thinking of scaling back it's forces in Kosovo. I am sure the spin master will spin this so fast we all better hold on for dear life. Just think NATO reduces there foot print and Ground Safety Zone. Pristina Provokes Serbian Forces but they forgot Eulex is to keep the peace. Serbia laughs at the provacation Serbian Police allowed back in to the enclaves and Prisina is again stuck in the mudd. I sincerely hope that that would not be the case. I see both Kosova and Serbia as separate countries in NATO soon. I would not like to see any more killings, persecution in ethnic basis, in these area.

Can we verify this claim that you are a high NATO official? You don't come through as someone in a high position with NATO.

Serbia has not lost it's credibility. Why do you think that they are negotiating with Serbia and not K-Albanians?
Serbia has never said that Albanians don't have the same rights. K-Albanians are not hindered in any way to run their own affairs. Serbia has proposed that already. Broad autonomy within the boundries of Serbia. I'd say that is showing the Albanian population quite bit of respect and rights.

Serbia is the regional threat, and Albania will join NATO next year. Unless the Albanian parliament approves you, you will never join NATO (see FYROM and Greece despite all that pressure) Also, how will you become an EU or NATO member when you have 'border' issues?

This is Serbs dreaming, in January Kosova will start training its armed forces and by spring we will reach the magic 97, or majority of UN recognitions.

Nemanja, if your logic runs correctly, we should be seeing Albanian commandos in Kosovo by 2009.

Thank you, zoran, i hope that you were serious, and that you keep posting. actually i have a very good pal named zoran (happens to be serb but it makes no difference to me) and i really admire him and have written about his experiences during and after the war (in bosnia.)

many of the nationalists swear that i hate serbs, and then write numerous scurrilous things against me (not to mention against ethnic albanian posters.) that "hate against serbs" is one big, ugly lie. another big lie is that serbs and albanians (or anyone else for that matter) cannot live together. that is not the case, as so many others have shown, often in quiet and everyday ways.
