Officials deny reports about arrest of remaining fugitive

Serbian Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekaric and Police Director Milorad Veljovic denied on Monday that Goran Hadzic had been arrested. The former political leader of Serbs in Croatia is wanted by the Hague Tribunal on charges of war crimes. Officials deny reports about arrest of remaining fugitive "I have no information that shows Goran Hadzic has been arrested, on the contrary, I have information that says he has not been arrested, I checked, and I was told he was not arrested," Vekric was quoted as saying by the Beta news agency. Veljovic also said there was no information to confirm the reported arrest. "If something happens, it will be known," was his brief comment. Last week, Interior Minister Ivica Dacic and Hague Cooperation Council President Rasim Ljajic said in separate statements that Serbia had launched an intensive search for Hadzic, and expressed hope it would be successful.
