Deputy PM Bozidar Djelic stated on Thursday that Serbia's aim was to attract USD 3bn of direct foreign investments in 2010. Djelic is in Paris where he s attending a two-day conference in Paris entitled "New world, new capitalism". "Serbia's goal is to attract USD 3bn" He told Tanjug that the gathering, opened by French President Nicolas Sarcozy, was attended by those who decide on further course of economic and political development, "which is why it was important for Serbia to be presented there". "As far as Serbia is concerned, I have presented our economic program, as well as our EU pathway. It was noticed that Serbia is the only country in Europe whose rating has improved in 2009, whereas the rating of many other countries has dropped," Djelic stressed. "It is clear that we must continue carrying out reforms and attracting investments. Since we attracted approximately USD 2 billion in 2009 with Fiat and Gazprom Neft, our aim is to attract USD 3bn of direct foreign investments in 2010," he pointed out. Djelic said that, when it came to financial crisis, the country had left the worst behind and that there was no risk of large financial institutions going bankrupt again, which meant that the world was entering a more stable situation.
