The National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal has decided to appeal against Ramush Haradinaj’s acquittal. At the same time, a request will be submitted for an investigation into the claims in former Hague Chief Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte’s book, “The Hunt”, said Council President Rasim Ljajic. Serbia to appeal against Haradinaj verdict “Despite the inconsistency and double standards, we’ll continue to cooperate with the Hague Tribunal. We have to carry on for our own sakes, not because of Haradinaj,” he said. Ljajic added that cooperation with the Hague would be hampered following the decision to acquit Haradinaj, but the question was how the operatives in the field looking for the Hague fugitives would react. “Serbia has done a lot more to cooperate with the Hague Tribunal than its neighbors in the region, and we deserve to be spared conditions and be allowed to sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU,” asserted the council president. He added that an investigation was under way as to how one of the fugitives, Stojan Zupljanin, managed to evade capture in Nis about ten days ago, and that according to current knowledge, information on the search for him had not as yet filtered through from the competent authorities.
