Ilić decides to run for president

Velimir Ilic will submit his candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections to the Electoral Commission today. At a meeting of New Serbia’s executive today, it was unanimously decided that the party leader and Infrastructure Minister would run for president next month, a party statement announced. Ilić's party is allied with Prime Minister Vojislav Koštunica's Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), which, along with President Boris Tadić's Democrats (DS) and G17 Plus, form the ruling coalition.

The Electoral Commission (RIK) has thus far confirmed the nominations of Tomislav Nikolić, Boris Tadić, Ištvan Pastor, Čedomir Jovanović, Milutin Mrkonjić, Milanka Karić and Jugoslav Dobričanin.
