B92 understands that the police, in cooperation with the prosecution and the military security services, have arrested 6 people on suspicion of abuse of office. According to a statement from the Defense Ministry, the suspects, believed to have committed abuses during the allocation of flats, include Colonel Miroslav Radovanovic from the Military Medical Center, Defense Ministry officials Branko Losic and Srboljub Stojanac, retired Majors Vladan Lausevic and Jovo Cevap, and retired Sergeant Major Ivko Lisica. The statement adds that the suspects in question had, like the criminal group headed by Mojovic, committed a number of crimes, classed as organized crime, during the allocation of flats to members of the Defense Ministry and Serbian Army. It goes on to say that the military security services, in cooperation with the Special Prosecution for Organized Crime and with the assistance of the Military Police and Anti-Organized Crime Department, have launched an arrest operation. Mojovic, who was apprehended on February 10, is suspected of being the ringleader of an organized crime group, whose activities are believed to have cost the tax payer just over EUR 1mn. Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac told Tanjug on Tuesday that today's arrest of six suspects fitted into the authorities’ continuing efforts to combat organized crime and corruption. "The Serbian Defense Ministry, with the cooperation of the Interior Ministry, started this operation on February 10, when 17 people were taken into custody, and in the course of this afternoon another six people have been arrested," Sutanovac said. He said that three of the suspects were employees of the Defense Ministry, while the other three were pensioners, adding that the operation would continue.
