A police officer shot dead 30-year-old Dj.Z. in New Belgrade in the early hours of this morning, though the circumstances have yet to be established. According to a police statement, the police signaled the driver of the car to pull up after he drove through a red light. Dj.Z. was shot in the head and is believed to have died instantly. Nada Macura from the emergency services said that death had been pronounced at 04:20 CET. The MUP statement adds that the police and prosecution are working together to establish the facts and circumstances that had led to the tragedy. The police have taken the officer into custody, who will be brought before the investigative judge at the District Court in Belgrade for questioning within 48 hours.
