14 persons investigated for inciting racial hatred

The Higher Public Prosecution has requested an investigation against 14 persons on suspicion that they incited racial intolerance which led to riots. The suspects are accused of trying to prevent police officers in providing public safety and of attacking them and inflicting them minor injuries last Sunday. 14 persons investigated for inciting racial hatred The suspects tried to reach the location in the Belgrade Resnik suburb where housing containers for Roma families had been placed. They were planning on destroying the containers but the police stopped them at a nearby intersection. The suspects and gathered citizens then attacked the police officers and threw rocks, bottles, sticks and bricks at them. Four policemen sustained minor injuries in the incident. The Prosecution has proposed that the suspects be remanded in custody so they would not repeat the crime or influence the accomplices. The Prosecution has requested that the investigation be launched against Srdjan Glusevic, Milan Avramovic, Zivkovic Milos, Dusan Kljajcin, Stefan Stojkovic, Boban Zivanovic, Milos Vasic, Zvezdan Nedeljkovic, Misa Medic, Milan Peric, Vladimir Rankovic, Ivan Nedeljkovic, Milan Jelinic and Dejan Nedeljkovic.
