Telekom Slovenija has spread its network in the region by buying the Albanian provider AOL.
The company initially launched its advertising campaign by announcing that it was working in the “state of Kosovo.”
However, company PR representative Darinka Pavlić Kamijen told B92 today that Telekom Slovenija’s announcement had been wrongly interpreted, and that as a result, they had modified their slogan, where Kosovo is now referred to as a market, rather than a state.
“In business, we often use the word ’state’ in expressions that actually refer to the market. We really aren’t interested in politics, we’re interested in our users and our service. And that’s why, in order to avoid any confusion, we once again wrote in a press release yesterday that we were referring to the market. If any confusion has been created, we do of course apologize,” she said.
Many regional and international operators treat Kosovo as a separate country.
German T-Mobile and British Orange who do business in Montenegro, Croatia, Macedonia and Romania, include Kosovo among their roaming countries, and moreover list the province in a different tariff zone to Serbia.
Kosovo has also been presented as an independent country in the newest edition of an atlas for schools published recently in Austria. |
