PARIS French far-right leader Marine Le Pen has been urging President Francois Hollande to hold a referendum on the country’s exit from the EU in January 2014. “I call on the president to organize a referendum on France’s EU exit,” Le Pen said after a meeting of her party, the National Front, on Saturday. She said abandoning the euro and a return to the national currency franc, as well as quitting the Schengen agreement, were some of her conditions to withdraw from a call for the referendum. Le Pen added that she did not believe that the government could achieve those results and that she believed that withdrawal from the EU was the only solution. The National Front leader has already proposed several times that the referendum be held but this is the first time that she mentioned a specific date. Marine Le Pen (Wikimedia Commons) Beta
