President, PM receive Hollywood action star Steven Seagal

Nikolic said that Serbia "appreciated that a famous actor such as Steven Seagal visited Belgrade and conveyed a true picture of us in the world," stressing that he "already proved to be a friend of our people by helping to raise money for the people affected by floods via social networks in the wake of the catastrophic floods in May 2014."

Seagal said that Serbia "suffered terrible injustice in recent history and that the United States still had prejudices about the Serbs and erroneous beliefs about the events of the 1990s."

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said today during a meeting with Seagal that the government will do everything to help the development of film industry in Serbia, which will contribute not only to the improvement of the economic situation, but also to the promotion of the country.

Vucic "supported Seagal’s idea on opening an aikido club in Belgrade, as well as the engagement of this Hollywood actor in the promotion of the image of Serbia," the government said on its website.

Seagal, who is on a several-day visit to Serbia, said that the law on incentives for foreign productions will provide considerable financial resources to Serbia, but will also attract a large number of tourists.

"Unlike in other European countries, the economy in Serbia is slowly growing," he said and added that he will do everything to promote in the best way possible the country which he considers his "new homeland."
