BELGRADE Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic says Serbia is "ready for EU membership talks which will be opened and completed with the chapters on judiciary and security." “We are ready since we have worked hard in previous months,” Selakovic said at a promotion of the guide for journalists entitled "Negotiating Chapters 23 and 24 - What Do We Negotiate About?" which was held at the Museum of Applied Arts on Tuesday evening. Noting that Chapters 23 and 24 are of extreme importance in the negotiation process, Selakovic voiced hope that the guide would be useful to journalists as soon as in 10 day's time (September 25-26) when an exploratory dialogue on the negotiation process will be opened between the Serbian delegation, which he will lead, and the EU in Brussels. German Ambassador to Serbia Heinz Wilhelm expressed gladness over the fact that the negotiations between Serbia and the EU could start in January. The guide gives answers to key questions concerning the negotiation process, the manner in which it is conducted, the EU Acquis, principles it is based on. It also explains why there are 35 negotiating chapters, the purpose of the screening process, specifies the criteria for opening and closing the chapters. Besides the promotion, GIZ also organized an exhibition of news and documentary photographs at the Museum of Applied Arts that will run through September 21.
