Serbian officials send Christmas greetings

Serbian PM Ivica Dačić, Belgrade Mayor Dragan Đilas and Belgrade City Assembly Speaker Aleksandar Antić have sent Christmas greetings to all believers.

BELGRADE Serbian PM Ivica Dacic, Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas and Belgrade City Assembly Speaker Aleksandar Antic have sent Christmas greetings to all believers. Dacic sent his Christmas greetings to Serbian Patriarch Irinej, Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) dignitaries, monks and believers who celebrate the holiday according to the Julian calendar. Serbian officials send Christmas greetings “I hope Christmas will bring peace, love and hope, health, success and progress. Let the holiday of Christ’s birth bring joy and family happiness to our homes. Peace from God, Christ is Born,” reads the prime minister’s Christmas message. Serbian parliament Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic wished all believers to “spend the holiday in faith and hope of better tomorrow”. “I wish you Christmas and the upcoming year filled with joy, health and love,” he said and added that Christmas was a holiday of understanding, tolerance, fellowship and solidarity. Djilas and Antic also sent Christmas greetings to the SPC and Belgrade citizens who celebrate Christmas according to the Julian calendar. “We wish all our fellow citizens who celebrate this great Christian holiday to spend it with their loved ones, neighbors and friends in health and peace. We also wish all days after Christmas to bring us personal and family happiness and success. Let us nurture mutual respect and tolerance, extend our hand to those who need help,” they noted. Serbian parliament’s Committee for Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality Chairman Meho Omerovic also sent his Christmas greetings to the Serbian patriarch, clergy and all believers who will celebrate Christmas on Monday. “I wish them all to welcome Christmas in happiness and joy with their families and loved ones and hope that this most joyous Christian holiday will bring us health, happiness and prosperity,” he said in the message.
