Human and Minority Rights Minister Svetozar Ciplic is glad that reports so far have given a positive appraisal of the state of human rights in Serbia. Speaking to Tanjug, the minister reiterated that Serbia was obliged to submit regular periodical reports on the state of human rights on the basis of international conventions concerning various human rights groups. Minister hails human rights progress Ciplic said that the majority of criticisms in those reports pertained to laws lacking in Serbian legal order. “What is good news is that the majority of those laws are in procedure, which is why the priority for next year is their adoption and application,“ he said. “Creating the pre-conditions, the logistical ones first and foremost, is the basic task of the ministry next year,“ Ciplic added. “What’s equally vital is accomplishing all the tasks that Serbia undertook during its presidency of the Roma Decade“ he stressed.
