Ex-reservists from seven towns in south Serbia are continuing their protest in front of government HQ over unpaid wages. At the same time, another group of reservists will block the Nis-Pristina road, near Kursumlija, in support of their comrades in Belgrade. Ex-reservists take protest to Belgrade Early this morning, several hundred reservists set off for Belgrade to protest in front of the government building. Strike committee representative Branislav Jovanovic said the men wanted to be paid out their remaining wages. “Over 20 busfuls of reservists from Kursumlija, Blace, Prokuplje, Zitoradje, Doljevac, Bojnik and Leban are coming to Belgrade today,“ he said. “We have just one demand – for our wages to be out in full, just as our comrades received their full wages through the courts,“ said Jovanovic. The ex-servicemen have come in an organized fashion, in military uniform, and they have brought tents, as they are planning to stay outside the government building until their demands are met. “We’ve brought cauldrons with us for cooking food, tents to protect us from the cold and bad weather, and wood for a fire,“ stated Jovanovic. To recap, the ex-servicemen, who fought in Kosovo during the 1999 war, have been protesting in Kursumlija and other towns in southern Serbia for the last two months, demanding that the Army and state reimburse them for wages that, they claim, they are still owed.
