Lavrov describes British draft as "absolutely anti-Serb"

"We spoke about the situation in the Security Council where there have been attempts to push through a resolution timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the events in Srebrenica," Lavrov said, and added that "the spirit of the resolution is absolutely anti-Serb."

"It interprets the events in an extremely incorrect manner, even from the legal point of view. These events have been submitted to the UN Security Council for appraisal," said Lavrov, and added he believed the resolution could cause new inter-ethnic tensions in the Balkans, considering "a surge of nationalist sentiment observed in that part of Europe," TASS reported.

"For me, today was a good opportunity to exchange views on the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Balkans as a whole, given the clear surge of ethnic nationalism, which we observe during the terrorist events in Zvornik and recently in Macedonia," the minister said.

"In this context, we will, of course, continue to consistently support our line of preserving the basic principles of the Dayton Accords," Lavrov concluded.

Dodik spoke about "the alarming situation related to the terrorist organization Islamic State."

He noted there were 380 people from Bosnia had joined the IS, and added that "it speaks of the danger that exists for all of us."

Also on Friday, Russia's ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina said the draft Srebrenica resolution was unacceptable to Russia in its current form.
