Serbian Consul in Athens Jovica Cekic says that there is no end in sight of a strike staged by truck drivers in that country. The strike started early this week. Greek strike continues, situation worsens Cekic said there was hope that negotiations between the Greek government and unions would yield results, and advised Serbian who will be headed to Greece in the coming days to fill up their gas tanks at the last gas stations in Macedonia, before they enter Greece. “The advice is also to save fuel they have in the first few days, until it’s certain that fuel would be shipped to (Greek gas) stations, but we still hope that the situation will stabilize in the next days,” the Serbian consul concluded. The Greek truck and fuel truck drivers continued their strike until noon today, when a meeting with unions was announced. On Wednesday night, the strikers ignored a 24-hour deadline by the government to end the protest, or face arrests. Three days into the strike, the Greek economy is suffering great damage, while tourists who are traveling by car are also likely to face difficulties, said reports. Northern Greece and the islands, where most Serbian spend their vacations, have been hit particularly hard by the strike.
