New war crimes arrest in Bosnia

Officials of the Bosnian Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) have arrested a Serb, Saša Zečević, on suspicion of crimes against humanity.

Officials of the Bosnian Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) have arrested a Serb, Sasa Zecevic, on suspicion of crimes against humanity. Zecevic, a member of the traffic police in Prijedor, was arrested at his place of work in the presence of the chief of the police station and EU police mission officials. New war crimes arrest in Bosnia He was arrested on a warrant issued by the Bosnia-Herzegovina prosecution and is suspected of having participated in the murders of 200 Bosniak civilians from Prijedor on August 21, 1992. SIPA officials have searched his home. Zecevic will today be handed over to the Bosnia-Herzegovina prosecution, after which a decision will be made on whether to remand him in custody. Two other suspects in the case, first-accused Damir Ivankovic and third-accused Gordan Djuric, have already signed confessions.
