Montenegro is not considering recognizing Kosovo’s independence at this moment in time, says Miodrag Vukovic of the ruling DPS. “We will think about that when the conditions for doing so have been met. When this will be and whether this will be—we do not know,” added the Democratic Party of Socialist (DPS)official. Kosovo not on Montenegrin agenda He said there had been speculation for many months that Montenegro would “definitely” recognize Kosovo's unilateral independence, but nothing had come of those claims. “We cleared stated that we would not rush, nor procrastinate, and that we would bear in mind all European perspectives and stability, and that this (recognition) was not a priority. Nor does that mean that we’ve lost our feel for helping resolve the problem, at least by not acting, which is in this case, to us, the most constructive thing to do, “ Vukovic explained. He said that relations between Serbia and Montenegro were a lot better now than they had been several years ago, but far from what everyone expected. “My view is that relations between the two brotherly nations would have been a lot better if in 2000, one dictatorship of nationalism had not replaced another, under the guise of democracy, and in the form of Vojislav Kostunica,” Vukovic said.
