Croatia's government is calling for urgent amendments to the law to stop the practice of seizing the wages or pensions of people behind with their debts.

Croatia's government is calling for urgent amendments to the law to stop the practice of seizing the wages or pensions of people behind with their debts. The government has proposed the amendments following warnings from trade unions that by signing official documents, many people were allowing their entire wages to be confiscated as part of repossession procedures. Croatian govt. calls for changes to debt laws According to the amendments, however, which will not be retroactive, people earning less than the average salary will only be liable to lose a third of their pay, except in alimony cases, where half will be taken. Those earning more than the average salary will be liable to lose even more.
