Slovenian citizens support Serbian EU entry

The majority of Slovenian citizens support Kosovo’s unilateral independence, but also Serbian accession to the EU. The Slovenian Foreign Ministry has announced the results of a poll, conducted by a faculty in Nova Gorica. Slovenian citizens support Serbian EU entry The results of the poll show that 62 percent of those questioned supported Slovenian recognition of Kosovo as an independent state, while 23 percent were against. As far as Slovenian-Serbian relations are concerned, 37 percent said relations were normal, 29 percent said they were good, while 26 percent considered them poor. Serbian EU entry is supported by 67 percent of Slovenian citizens, while 22 percent are against. In contrast to Serbia, only 59 percent of those questioned supported Croatia EU membership to 30 percent who opposed it. Relations between Slovenia and Croatia are considered to be bad by 72 percent, while only 8 percent think they are good. 74 percent of those questioned think that Slovenia’s policies towards Croatia should be more severe than has been the case thus far. 65 percent believed that Slovenia should restrict further Croatian EU accession until a solution was found to the problem concerning the ecological fishing zone in the Adriatic Sea. Asked in what order Serbia and Croatia should enter the EU, 42 percent of those questioned thought that they should enter together, 32 percent thought Croatia should enter first, and 9 percent were in favor of Serbia entering first.

74 percent of those questioned think that Slovenia’s policies towards Croatia should be more severe than has been the case thus far.
