The government of Japan has approved a USD 4.5 million grant as additional aid to help Serbia in managing the refugee crisis.

Japan approves USD 4.5mn grant to help manage migrant crisis

On January 20, the Japanese government approved an additional grant aid of USD 4.575 million for UNHCR, UNDP, IOM and UNICEF projects to help Serbia deal with the refugee and migrant crisis.

A total of USD 1,830,000 goes for UNHCR projects to improve the conditions for the reception of refugees and support to local health centers in the municipalities affected by the refugee crisis, and USD 900,000 goes for IOM projects to improve border management.

The UNDP will be given USD 1,095,000 to provide support of the municipalities affected by the refugee and migrant crisis, and UNICEF is getting USD 750,000 to help children and women refugees.
