PM vows to "no longer pay attention to opposition silliness"

He was referring to the day in 2000 when mass demonstrations in Belgrade forced then Serbian president and SPS founder and leader Slobodan Milišević to step down.

Dačić further asserted that he was not fighting for his party to be "the first runner up in elections, but to win," and advised against trusting public opinion polls, "as they are done according to the wishes of those who commission them."

"Do you really think Boris Tadić will win ten percent? Do you really think Čeda (Čedomir) Jovanović will be some factor, and that Mlađan Dinkić will enter parliament?," he asked, and then noted that "this is not a fairy-tale, the Brothers Grimm died a long time ago."

To the opposition parties aiming their criticism at him, Dačić said he would "no longer pay attention to their silliness."

"It's easy to attack me, why don't they attack Vučić? They think it's easy to go against me - I'll show them," Dačić was quoted as saying.

The SPS leader also said he was "not interested" in how many votes his party would win - "but that his coalition does well in elections."

"Elections are the best opinion poll. We don't have research agencies, but agencies for creation of public opinion. There's those who have too much faith in polls, like Boris Tadić, who, according to those, beat Tomislav Nikolić in the second round (of presidential elections) with a 16-percent margin, and then there's those who don't trust them at all, like Slobodan Milošević, who lost the election," said Dačić.

The SPS leader went on to tell reporters that the opposition will take part in elections "divided into four columns," and added that "now the emergence of a fifth is awaited."
