There will be no freezing of salaries and pensions, talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be held, but no proposal will be accepted "blindly". This is according to top SPS party official Branko Ruzic, who explained that this policy of Serbia's new government, that will be led by SPS leader Ivica Dacic, was based on "the interests of the Serbian people and the economy coming first". Dacic's cabinet "won't freeze salaries and pensions" "The platform that will be discussed by the new government will be a reflection of the country's economic situation and the need to find a sustainable model that would revive the economy, employ people, bring a greater degree of fiscal discipline and new investments in an efficient, but also socially just manner," Ruzic told the Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti. Asked about that content of the political part of the platform, he stated: "A clear, state-building and realistic approach with the broadest possible consensus regarding the issue of Kosovo and Metohija. Getting a date for the start of EU accession talks. Affirmation and deepening of political and economic cooperation with the Russia, China and the U.S.. Regional cooperation will be given full recognition thanks to an active and distinctive role of Dacic. Continued cooperation in all fields with the Serb Republic (RS) is the constant of every Serbian government, since the Dayton Agreement.." Ruzic said that, as the candidate for the prime minister, Dacic will say clearly what the future government's political priorities and deadlines for achieving those goals are. The government will have 15 departments, he said, but added that functionality and efficiency of those at the head of ministries is more important than the number itself. When asked what the main problem in unsuccessful talks on forming the government with the Democratic Party was, Ruzic said "the talks were correct, but we did not reach a consensus on the program framework, above all when it comes to certain economic measures." "Also, we failed to reach an agreement on the numerical capacity of the future parliamentary majority," Ruzic concluded. Branko Ruzic (Beta, file) Tanjug Vecernje novosti
