Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic said on Thursday he was convinced the path he wanted citizens to back was the path of certainty. He added that any other political option in Serbia entailed uncertainty. We offer path of certainty, Tadic says Addressing DS supporters gathered in the central Serbian town of Topola the DS leader and presidential candidate pointed out that he believed the list “Choice for a Better Life” would win in the elections because the democratic option it advocated had always defeated its opponents. According to Tadic, the most important tasks after the elections are embodied in the prompt constitution of the government, resolution of the macroeconomic situation, ensuring savings wherever possible and attracting new foreign investments. “We ensured EUR 2bn worth of funds in the previous year,” he said and added that this was what DS could do and the opposition could not because the incumbent government knew the international community and was in constant contact with it, and the international community recognizes the current government as well. “The world considers us as a predictable factor, but we also know how to negotiate difficult issues, starting from the Kosovo issue down to investments,” Tadic said and added that the current government managed to “preserve the country's integrity, raise its credibility in the international arena and it now has to fight for better standards and living conditions”. He noted that there was no trace of panic among the members of the coalition centered around the DS because they were sure of victory. “We respect our opponents and I believe they will also respect us,” the DS leader stated and added that the coalition around DS helped the opponents change their nature but that he doubted the change had been thorough and that they could lead the country with confidence, which was the reason he was running for president again. He expressed certainty that the opposition did not know exactly where they would take Serbia and that they were not convinced of their own words when they said they would lead the country to the EU. “This is why I suggest we follow the path we chose 20 years ago and which we won in 2000,” Tadic said and added that this option always won citizens' support in the elections over the past ten years.
