The Democratic League of Kosovo (DSK) has announced that its ministers will leave the government in Pristina. This breaks up the ruling coalition that the party forged with the Democratic Party of Kosovo (DPK). "Thaci aims for Dec. 5 elections" Kosovo Albanian Prime Minister Hasim Thaci has set a new goal that elections in Kosovo should be held as soon as possible, according to media reports out of Pristina. Albanian language daily Koha Ditore reported on Monday that Thaci is supported by U.S. diplomats to hold the elections, which may take place as early as December 5, 2010. He conferred with diplomats of the so-called Quint - the U.S. France, Germany, Italy and Britain, including Chief of the International Civil Office Peter Feith. Feith proposed that the DPK should continue to operate, while the opposition parties should not take part in the government, but that they should agree and support drafts on laws concerning "budget, the civil status registers and the Kosovo Telecom privatization strategy," the daily stated. However, Koha Ditore added that "international factors and Kosovo institutions have no clear strategy how to overcome the institutional crisis". The daily cited a DPK official, who is also a high representative of the government, that an institutional crisis was diagnosed at a meeting with ambassadors, but that no solution for it was offered. The DSK presidency decided on October 16 that the party will withdraw from the ruling coalition with DPK as of today.
