Parliament continues to debate amendments to the Defense Law. The Defense Law regulates Serbia’s defense system. It also calls for parliament to assume civil and democratic control of the defense system, and the government to confirm and adopt defense policies. The proposal strictly prohibits the use of the army for party, religious or ideological purposes, and outlaws the formation of paramilitary organizations or associations.
