The tender for the sale of Zastava’s car subsidiary will be announced in December, says Mladjan Dinkic. The minister of economy in the Kostunica cabinet also said that a tender for the sale of Zastava’s truck subsidiary is also being prepared. Zastava Automobiles tender set for December "We want to find good strategic partners for both companies by the end of 2008," he said. According to Dinkic, so far at least five companies have shown interest in Zastava, including Ford, General Motors, Fiat, the Indian Tata, and a number of Chinese companies. "Serbia is ready to offer better conditions than any other country in the region to investors who want to invest in our car industry," he stressed. State Secretary for International Economic Relations Jasna Matic said she had spoken to representatives of the Russian-Chinese company AMS, interested in buying Zastava’s truck subsidiary, as well as some smaller factories belonging to the Zastava Group. "Negotiations with representatives from companies from Peking and Ulyanovsk will resume, and there is high likelihood that they will start to manufacture trucks, destined for the European and regional markets," she added. Dinkic said that talks were under way to sell Priboj Car Factory (FAP) to the Czech Tatra, the only company that has bought the tender documentation. "We offered them special conditions for participation in the privatization, as it is important for us that Serbia’s truck industry survives," underlined the minister, adding that a new factory would soon be opened in Vojvodina, manufacturing chassis for vehicle transporters. The investor is the French company, LOHR.
