Serbia’s agriculture and food processing industry achieved export surplus of US$ 193.4mn in the first half of 2007.

Agriculture posts US$ 193.4mn trade surplus

The Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) said agriculture participated in the country’s overall exports with 17.9 percent.

At the same time, Serbia imported US$ 518.9mn worth of agricultural product, up 18.7 percent compared to last year.

Prime export articles remain sugar and corn, with exports worth US$ 67.5mn and 59.2mn respectively.

Serbia primarily imported cigarettes, raw coffee, bananas and oranges, worth a total of US$ 92.7mn.

All sectors posted positive trade balance, except for tobacco production and processing.
