Slobodan Sokolović, assistant to the energy minister, confirmed this for Politika daily, adding that NIS’s biggest enemy in the privatizing process was precisely time. All the more so since it is not known when the tender might be called, NIS urgently needs a new owner to reorganize and modernize the refinery’s business.

Any further delay would have negative consequences on the overall realization of strategic goals. That includes, above all else, a drop in the value of the minority share package taking up 25 percent of the company, which should be the first to be offered at the tender, according to NIS’ privatization consultants Merrill Lynch and Raiffeisen Investment.
