Indictments for involvement in the Special Operations Unit (JSO) mutiny will reveal the political background of the act, State Secretary Slobodan Homen says. He told B92 that the indictments were raised against all the participants of the armed mutiny in November 2001. JSO indictments “to reveal political background” Homen explained that one of the priorities of the Democratic Party (DS) was to reveal the political background of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic's murder. The Justice Ministry state secretary pointed out that Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica and former Military Security Agency (VBA) Director Aca Tomic had not been questioned and that the indictment against them had not been raised because the prosecution in democratic societies reacted if there were evidence against someone, adding that no evidence was found against the two. Homen believes that Kostunica and his party had already suffered certain sanctions due to “political and moral responsibility that has been seen by citizens”. The state secretary added that there was a possibility that the indictments could be expanded after extradition of Zemun gang members who were arrested abroad. “It has happened so far that gang members on different levels have different information about the same events. Not all of them were in contact with the same people. We are waiting to hear what they are going to say,” he stressed. (FoNet, file) B92
