Priest brandishes axe at congregation

A priest has attacked members of his congregation with an axe in a village near Gornji Milanovac. Vlastimir Zlatic (50) brandished the axe at worshippers after a fight in which he himself was involved in at the Saint Nikola Church in the village of Silopaj. Zlatic said that Dragan Bojovic (45) from the village of Mutanj had turned on him “out of the blue“, pushing him over and kicking him on the body, for which he has a doctor’s certificate. As other parishioners intervened, the priest extracted himself from the melee, and returned moments later carrying an axe, though the crowd stepped in to prevent a more serious incident. “It really went beyond the pale, and it has now caused dissatisfaction with his work and behavior , as he is prone to fights and pulling his revolver out, and he charges EUR 100 for funeral services,“ said president of the local community, Bogdan Likic.
