Vucic said that "at any one time, there were 400 workers on the job, and a total of 49 subcontractors from Serbia were hired to complete the Grabovnica-Grdelica section," located on the southern arm of Corridor 10.

The works, financed by the World Bank, have been completed a month and a half before the May 31 deadline.

Terna, the Greek contractor for the works, and local contractors also built a 26.3-kilometers-long section from Vladicin Han to Donji Neradovac near Vranje, which was opened to traffic in the presence of the prime minister in November 2015, the agency said.

The project, including both sections, was worth about EUR 100 million.

Also attending today's ceremony were Vice Chairman of the Board of Terna Energy SA Georgios Perdikaris, Corridors of Serbia Director Dmitar Djurovic, and Serbian Minister of Transport Zorana Mihajlovic.
