UAE company wants to build Corridor 11, Morava Corridor

BELGRADE Serbian Minister of Construction Velimir Ilic signed on Thursday a memorandum on cooperation with GIDC, a joint enterprise. The enterprise is made up of the Serbian government and the United Arab Emirates-based Global Capital Advisors Management company. UAE company wants to build Corridor 11, Morava Corridor Under the memorandum, GIDC will provide EUR 15 to 20 million to fund work on the design and technical documentation for construction of Corridor 11 from Pozega to the border with Montenegro. GIDC will also produce a study for constructing the motorway section towards Montenegro, and propose a public-private partnership model. Ilic said that the UAE-based partners are also interested in constructing the 107 km section of the Corridor 11 and the so-called Morava Corridor from Pojate to Preljina. He added that the Ministry of Construction on Thursday published an invitation to tender for selection of a consultant that would produce a draft concession agreement on construction of Corridor 11 from Belgrade to Obrenovac, with the concession to be awarded to Chinese companies. The Serbian government has adopted the text of the memorandum, which specifies that GIDC will undertake the funding of investment and technical documentation to establish the spatial, environmental, financial and economic justifiability of investing in construction of a Corridor 11 motorway section from Pozega to Boljare, spanning 106.8 km.
