Council to publish Novosti sale report

The government’s Anti-Corruption Council will publish next week the report on sale of the Novosti company -the publisher of Vecernje Novosti daily. The Council analyzed documents on the change of ownership relations within the Novosti company, since the 1990s, as well as in other companies of the former union institution Borba, out of which the company Novosti was founded. The state has currently stakes in Novosti company, apart from the share of 29% indirectly, through the pension Fund (Fond PIO), it also has another 7.2% shares. The package of 62% of Novosti shares were bought at the stock exchange from the small shareholders in 2006, by three companies - Trimax, Ardos and Karamat, out of which two are registered in Austria and one on Cyprus. All three are believed to be connected to tycoon Milan Beko.
