Milutun Mrkonjic says the section of the Belgrade bypass between Orlovaca and Ostruznica will be complete by October 1. After inspecting progress at the section near Orlovaca, the infrastructure minister said that the completion of work on that section of the bypass would be financed by the National Investment Plan. "Bypass construction ahead of schedule" “The money’s there, EUR 28.9mn is ready and waiting,” he said. Mrkonjic said that the government’s basic task was to hire a domestic construction company, and that one of the conditions was that “a domestic company carry out the work” on building the bypass. Ratomir Todorovic, CEO at the Planum construction company, one of the companies working on the project, said that the construction plan for the Orlovaca-Ostruznica section was “feasible if the funding is secured”. “We've undertaken to open that section up for traffic on October 15,” said Todorovic, adding that “the workers are on the field, and working full throttle”. Asked whether the workers had been paid, Todorovic said that Planum employees had received their June paychecks, and were due to receive their wages for July soon. “As far as I know, the money has been secured, and there should be no problems,” he added, stating that “in this phase, very expensive jobs lie ahead with big outlays for equipment.” Jovan Jovic from Mostogradnje, also involved in the project, said that his workers were getting paid every 15 days. Jovic said that night shifts would be introduced at certain facilities, adding that this required all technical and HTZ equipment to be installed to guarantee worker safety. Serbian Roads CEO Zoran Drobnjak said that his company “is taking care of personal wages for all road companies that are working on the project.” Drobnjak added that because of late payments, some of these companies were taking out loans in order to remunerate their workers, adding that his company had guaranteed that all these loans would be paid.
