Serbian debt to Germany to be used for development

Germany will allocate EUR 17mn, owed to it by Belgrade, toward Serbia's development projects. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic in Berlin Wednesday. Serbian debt to Germany to be used for development “We have very good news: Germany has decided we should use the EUR 17mn debt, which we were supposed to repay to the German budget, for projects related to sustainable economy and environment in our country,” Djelic told Tanjug news agency, after his meeting with State Secretary with the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Karin Kortmann. He pointed to the fact that over the past seven years, that German ministry had been Serbia's biggest individual donor, as far as grants in aid and noncommercial loans were concerned, and that so far, Serbia had received from it a total of EUR 450mn. Djelic met with Kortmann on the second day of his visit to Germany. He is also set to visit Pforzheim, Stuttgart and Hamburg.
