Bravo "Politikinom zabavniku"!
Zvezde Sirius B i C su zanemarljive veličine u odnosu na A komponentu, te je samim tim i njihov sjaj u drugom planu. Dobrim dijelom godine Sirius je relativno visoko na noćnom nebu, tako da mi hipoteza o vidljivosti niskog horitonta samo donekle rješava zagonetku. Preklapanje komponenti, iz nekog od gornjih komentara po meni ne stoji, jer bi to bilo sa lakoćom otkriveno današnjim teleskopima. U svakom slučaju, Siriusov sistem je isti milionima godina unazad, te je stoga problem u nepravilnom (ne kažem pogrešnom) izvođenju zaključka. Hvala Bogu Tvorcu Svedržitelju što kroz tumačenje Njegovih djela tumačimo i sami sebe.

"A credible astrophysical explanation has been put forward according to which, although Sirius B could not have been a red giant in historical times, it may nevertheless have taken on the appearance of one. A white dwarf is made up of a highly compressed carbon-oxygen core surrounded by a thin layer of helium topped with a very thin "atmosphere" of hydrogen. The suggestion is that it might be possible for a small amount of hydrogen to percolate down into the interior and then, with carbon and oxygen acting as nuclear catalysts, for the hydrogen to begin fusing into helium. This sudden, brief resumption of energy-making would release a pulse of heat which, upon reaching the surface, would cause the hydrogen atmosphere to billow out to thousands of times its normal size. As the atmosphere expanded it would cool and glow bright red. Calculations indicate that after about 250 years the atmosphere would collapse again, losing its ruddy brilliance and returning the white dwarf to its previous state of dim anonymity."

Višečlani zvezdani sistemi se izuzetno retko "vide" kao dve zvezde, već se gotovo uvek otkrivaju uočavanjem odstupanja u kretanju celokupnog sistema, kojeg po pravilu vidimo kao jednu tačku.

A mozda Siriusi A i B orbitiraju medjusobno sa revolucijom od nekoliko hiljada godina i za promenu boje bi bilo dovoljno nekoliko godina?

A mozda Siriusi A i B orbitiraju medjusobno sa revolucijom od nekoliko hiljada godina i za promenu boje bi bilo dovoljno nekoliko godina?
