The United States expanded its campaign of airstrikes on Iran on Friday, targeting infrastructure including bridges and a key port facility.
The control tower at Iran’s Chabahar port, located along the Gulf of Oman, reportedly collapsed following repeated U.S. strikes on the facility, according to a photograph shared by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Iranian state media confirmed a third wave of attacks on the facility but did not immediately confirm reports of the tower’s collapse. Iran says the tower was used to monitor commercial traffic at the port, while the facility has also been linked to operations of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Chabahar Port, an important trade route for landlocked Afghanistan, has previously been targeted in U.S. strikes.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the latest operation marked the sixth consecutive night of U.S. strikes on Iran. According to the command, U.S. forces, including fighter aircraft, drones and warships, carried out precision strikes against dozens of Iranian military targets. The targets included coastal surveillance facilities, air defense systems, military logistics infrastructure and naval capabilities.
