Bloodshed in Lebanon; "Such a massacre is unbelievable" PHOTO/VIDEO
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk condemned Israeli attacks across Lebanon on Wednesday, saying that such a massacre is unbelievable.
“The scale of killings and destruction in Lebanon today is simply horrific. Such a massacre, within hours of a ceasefire agreement with Iran, defies belief. It puts enormous strain on the fragile peace that civilians desperately need,” said the UN human rights chief.
During the day, Israel, the United States, and Pakistan — which helped mediate with Iran — gave differing statements on whether Lebanon is included in the temporary ceasefire.
Pakistan’s position is that Lebanon was included, but Israel and the White House said that it was not.

Before today’s attacks, at least 1,530 people had been killed and 4,812 injured in Lebanon since the start of the war, according to data from the Ministry of Health released on Tuesday.
Türk reiterated that international humanitarian law protects civilians and civilian infrastructure.
“There must be a swift and independent investigation into all alleged violations of the law, and those responsible must be brought to justice,” he added.
