There has been no official confirmation from Tehran.

It is also unclear what the health condition of Iran’s new leader is, given that he was injured in the same attack in which his father, the previous Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed.

The Iranian Foreign Minister has only confirmed that Khamenei was injured, adding that he is safe and “operational,” while numerous media outlets, citing their sources, claim that Khamenei is seriously wounded and that it is unknown who is actually running Iran.

Khamenei himself issued a written message shortly after media reports claimed he was in a coma, and every subsequent statement he has made has been in writing, which has fueled ongoing doubts about his health.

Adding to the confusion on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that, following negotiations with Iran, he had decided to suspend bombing of Iranian energy facilities for five days. Tehran then responded with an official message saying that they had not held any talks with Trump.
