Trump responds to the appointment of Iran's new Supreme Leader
U.S. President Donald Trump is ‘not pleased’ with the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Fox News reports.

The Iranian Leadership Council, the body responsible for selecting the country’s Supreme Leader, last night, by a large majority, elected Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei as the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Tasnim agency reported.
The Assembly of Experts emphasized the importance of continuity in leadership and the need to respect the Constitution and internal rules in the process of selecting a leader, so that the state would not be left without governance.
The election of Mojtaba Khamenei was carried out in accordance with the principles of Islamic law and the Constitution, and the Assembly of Experts calls on all citizens and the elite of society to give loyalty to the new leader and preserve the unity of the state,’ the statement said.”
The new Supreme Leader of Iran was chosen after the previous leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed at the beginning of the U.S.–Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28.
