"Night from hell" ahead: Hezbollah plans massive missile attack on Israel

The IDF has taken an unusual step by warning the civilian population following an incident last Wednesday, when it had prior intelligence about a possible intensified Hezbollah attack but did not issue an advance warning to citizens—or at least not early enough for additional precautions to be taken.

During that incident, Hezbollah increased the number of rockets fired from about 100 per day to 200.

The IDF further stated that Hezbollah had planned to fire up to 600 rockets at Israel at the time, but this was prevented by preemptive airstrikes.

The IDF emphasized that this time as well, the air force is operating at full capacity to try to thwart Hezbollah’s efforts, but felt it necessary to issue a general warning so that civilians could prepare and take extra precautions if needed.

At the same time, the Israeli military says it is ready for Hezbollah attacks and advises citizens not to panic, but to remain near safe rooms and shelters.

Iran could also potentially be involved in an attack, but the main threat is considered to come from Hezbollah.
