Moscow stands ready to aid in easing tensions around Iran
Russia is ready to assist in finding a solution to the Iran crisis and advocates for an urgent de-escalation of the conflict in the Middle East through political and diplomatic means.
This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko during a meeting with the Israeli Ambassador to Moscow, Oded Joseph.
According to Russian news agency Interfax, the Russian side “reaffirmed” its principled and consistent position in favor of quickly calming the conflict and resolving existing and emerging issues through political and diplomatic means, expressing Moscow’s readiness to contribute to finding a solution to the Iran crisis.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged detailed views on developments in the Middle East in the context of the military operation against Iran launched on February 28 by the United States and Israel.
The United States and Israel reportedly carried out “preventive strikes” on Iran early Saturday morning, following unsuccessful rounds of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.
In response, Iran launched massive retaliatory attacks on Israel and on targets linked to the U.S. across the Middle East.
