Cargo vessel hit in the Strait of Hormuz VIDEO
A cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz was hit by an unknown projectile about 46 kilometers off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said today.
According to reports, the ship sustained damage, but all crew members are safe and have been assisted, and the service did not provide further details.
Earlier, the agency had advised all vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz to “proceed with caution.”
Due to the war between the United States and Israel against Iran, the Strait of Hormuz is effectively closed.
This is one of the key points for transporting oil and liquefied natural gas.
Tankers have not been passing through the strait for more than a week, and producers have been forced to halt extraction while storage tanks fill up.
U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to escalate the war with Iran if the country blocks oil shipments from the Middle East, while also predicting a swift end to the conflict.
