What's happening? A country bordering Serbia urgently requests help; Two F-16s arriving
Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias said today that Athens will transfer a Patriot missile battery to the northern part of the country in the coming hours in order to provide missile defense coverage for a large part of Bulgarian territory, Greek media report
Dendias added that at a meeting of the National Defense Council it was also decided that two F-16 aircraft would be transferred to an airport in northern Greece with the sole task of providing additional air protection for Bulgaria, Kathimerini reported.
It was also stated that two senior officers from the Greek Air Force will be sent to the Operations Center of the Bulgarian Armed Forces in Sofia.
‘I was in contact yesterday and today with Bulgarian Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov. Following yesterday’s request from the Bulgarian side, I informed the minister today that Greece will provide assets and personnel to help protect Bulgaria,’ Dendias said.

He added that these steps were taken at the request of Bulgaria, a member of NATO and the European Union, and that they will not in the slightest affect the anti-ballistic protection of Greek territory.
Dendias also said that next week, at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart, he will visit Sofia.
It should be recalled that Greece has already been invited to send its forces to Cyprus, where a British Royal Navy base was attacked.
